The 2026 Taiwan Fashion Design Award (TFDA) continues to expand its global reach, attracting 530 emerging designers from 25 countries and regions, including Italy, Germany, Spain, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, Australia, and Israel. This year’s submissions explore diverse themes spanning personal memories, technology and humanity, nature, cultural heritage, and identity, while addressing contemporary issues such as artificial intelligence, climate change, and ecological coexistence. Through innovative design approaches, cross-disciplinary inspirations, and the use of recycled materials, regenerated fibers, and circular design concepts, participants demonstrated new possibilities for the future of fashion and sustainability.
The preliminary jury recognized the overall improvement in the quality of this year’s entries, highlighting the designers’ strong creative perspectives, experimental spirit, and craftsmanship. Many collections demonstrated outstanding silhouette development, material innovation, craftsmanship techniques, and visual storytelling, reflecting diverse cultural influences and individual identities. The 12 finalists will present their complete collections at Taipei Fashion Week in October, competing for the US$10,000 First Prize and showcasing their creative visions to the global fashion community, industry professionals, and media.
The Taiwan Fashion Design Award is organized by the Industrial Development Administration (IDA) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and executed by the Taiwan Textile Federation. Since opening to international entries at its 27th edition, the award has welcomed emerging designers worldwide, with international participants comprising nearly one-third of total entries. The platform fosters cross-cultural exchange and supports designers in pursuing further study, professional growth, and opportunities on the global fashion stage. This year’s competition is supported by Coddy Global Ltd., Eclat Education Foundation, Fortune Industrial and Commercial Development Foundation, Lealea Enterprise Co., Ltd., Li Peng Enterprise Co., Ltd., Makalot Foundation, New Wide Enterprise Co., Ltd., and New Wide Garment Co., Ltd., offering total prize money of US$35,000.
