Organized by Industrial Development Administration (IDA), Ministry of Economic Affairs and executed by Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF), 2023 Taiwan Fashion Design Award (TFDA) is about to make its debut. After a three-year hiatus due to pandemic restrictions, foreign expert judges and participants can finally come to Taiwan and personally take part in this event. On October 11th at 11:00 AM, 12 emerging fashion talents will engage in fierce competition at Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, promising an exciting spectacle. Additionally, the event will be livestreamed on IDA's Facebook and on Taipei Fashion Week official website, allowing global audiences to witness the outstanding creations of these talented emerging fashion designers and infuse fashion design industry with boundless inspiration and vitality.
12 finalists, standing out from 485 participants and representing 19 countries across Europe, the Americas, and Asia. Their creations showcase ingenious ideas, combining creativity, sustainability, functionality, and performance, setting them apart in both technical expertise and artistic creativity. For instance, some have utilized computerized horizontal knitting machine technology to create a natural textured look, while others have crafted highly elastic and breathable garments from fine-gauge circular-knit fabrics. Digital printing, alongside the use of discarded materials and natural dyes, has been employed to print on zero-waste fabrics, reducing the environmental impact of traditional printing processes. Additionally, concepts like capsule wardrobes have inspired participants to design minimalist clothing styles. Each participant has poured their full creative energy into seizing this opportunity to shine and demonstrate their abundant design prowess.
TFDA is at the forefront of connecting Taiwan's fashion industry with the international arena. We express our gratitude for the long-term dedication and support from the academic and business communities, which have nurtured design talent, propelled them into the realm of design research and development, and fortified the industry's foundations with new vitality. The competition prizes have been generously sponsored by Coddy Global Ltd., Fortune Industrial and Commercial Development Foundation, Lealea Enterprise Co., Ltd., Li Peng Enterprise Co., Ltd., New Wide Enterprise Co., Ltd., and New Wide Garment Co., Ltd. These sponsors have contributed a total prize of US$35,000, providing substantial encouragement and resources to young designers. Additionally, Samsung has graciously provided their flagship Galaxy Tab S series tablets for the dynamic judging of the fashion designs during the finals.
