SUSTAINABILITY and FUNCTION
1. Hand-dyed process. The method can be linked to various kinds of natural materials. For example, I used dough to create natural wrinkles on the fabric. This method can be extended to a program or collaboration with sustainable related organizations such as local agricultural communities. By making the defective produce ingredients as natural paint, we can make the best out of every part of the produce.
2. Zero waist pattern cutting. The thought of never wasting anything is relatively not common in fashion industry. In the project I made the best out of it by the idea of zero waist cutting: in look1 and look2, fabric was used as much as possible by the design of the silhouette and the concept of making the two pieces connectable.
3. Photography print. This project contains lots of the pictures (forests, streets and people) I took while traveling around world. The method not only portrayed the concept of “One is all and all is one.” ,but also brought out a possibility of how we can care about culture and relations with the world, by combining artistic aesthetics with natural environments—and with fashion. It can be extended to a series of projects including sustainable research, related forums and using the platform of fashion to promote the ideas.
4. Fabric choice. All the hand-dyed garments used are 100% natural fiber.
Vision: As the core value of the project is to put down human awareness and to think of us as part of the “one” world, the sustainable ideas above are the ways to put the concept of “one is all and all is one” into practice, in hopes of arousing the awareness to protect the planet.
